Demonstration Project for Sustainable Sanitation in Jordan

Commissioned by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in close cooperation with Borda West and Central Asia we designed the tertiary treatment of a pilot project  for decentralized wastewater treatment in Jordan, consisting of the following treatment scheme:

 
  • Primary treatment: Biogas settler (also for organic solid waste)
  • Secondary treatment: Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR), Anaerobic Filter (AF)
  • Tertiary treatment: Reed Bed Treatment System with vertical subsurface flow (constructed wetland)
  • Re-use: Collection tank behind constructed wetland, solar pump (to pump the water to a higher tank in order to irrigate by gravity)
